10:04 am: Happy new year

Well it’s the new year…woot…

Anyway. The Christmas break was great as I did not do much. We had breakfast with the ferrets again at a friend's house then it was back to our place for roast and drinks…oh so much drink J

I did a little around the house and managed to put a large hole into chucks army. I have had a friends wife paint the miniatures for him and I have based and flocked them. this is the last time I do a force for someone else (unless they ask really nicely). I have not had the chance to do what I wanted to do for cancon but what I am taking is well presented.

Finally got my radio control plane up in the air and I even managed to back to earth. Now I sure that I will become a little better and not crash the plane so quickly next time. I have a  friend who is a professional competitor for remote control and I am going to get some lessons from him. As a kid I always want to muck around with this hobby and I find myself almost looking forward to seeing where it will take me.

I am going up to the castle for a couple of days at the end of January and going to catch up the macloed man. I think we are going to get our spears done. I might try and persuade him to take us fishing again.

Work is work and I am applying for a executive level position here. I am not really management material but I might as well give it a shot!

Well I best go and earn my paypacket….hey look it coffee time.

10:51 am: Silly season

Looks like I am going to return to tafe and finish off my Diploma. I have been unable to do so due to been on contact work and its difficult to motivate myself whilst working on contract. My current work is going to pay for me to return to my studies and give me study leave. Very happy with that!

I have again applied for work in the Newcastle area but we are now going to wait until mid next year before seriously looking to move up. Aside from wanting to get my studies done it will also tie in well with our lease ending etc.

Went to a large flames of war game last Friday nite. Attending this was about 8 fellows and the atmosphere was relaxed. Though there is always one tosser in the crowd. Why do people need to constantly play the rules and not the game? And where can I buy a elastic tape measure….really urks me!

Xmas is closing in fast and I am making arrangements to have tinsel and other decorations this year. If only for the simple fact to annoy Fiona :P I am not a big one on chrissy trees etc but this year I feel its needed.

Our gift to ourselves will be a lcd telly. Though this is on hold whilst Fiona jet sets to north Queensland to visit mother. We try not to get too involved with the over abundant of materialism that happens at this time of year. I find that spending the day with friends and close ones is more close to the idea of the Christian holiday. Lets face it, we are aussies and love time of work. But I think that what the season means escapes a lot of people.

As a kid we really did not do the xmas thing, our fuck of a step father refused to give gifts or let us have a tree after I had turned 10. I still find it difficult around this time of year. Mainly because I saw other families enjoying this time of year where as we were lucky not to get smacked down for mentioning the word "Christmas" fucking prick…..those thoughts are still strong even after 28 years….

Anyways…

Have been doing some remote control flying and I have been finding this most acceptable J though I did crash the helicopter and buggered up the rotor….sigh J

Well back to work.

02:11 pm: A long delay

It has been a little while since I have made an entry….meh.

Whats been happing over the last month.

Wargaming: going well. My Teutonic's finally arrived from the painting service after much delay. I am happy to forgive them as the painting is outstanding and the 50% off due to their stuff up makes it all the sweeter. I have ordered another 10 front rank cavalry from them. All the models are in barding so I am getting my monies worth due to the heraldry I have asked to be painted.

Cancon seems to be shaping up well. There are a couple of chaps from the last con who will not be attending. But saying that I have been contacted by players who have not previously played in my comp…so the cosmos balances I guess.

Still debating wether I will run a comp in 2009. I most likely will but will have to see what interest 2008 brings.

Gaming against Bern has now have me beating him on a regular basis. He does not change his tactics and once learned are easily defeated.

My Car: I love it and now do not owe any money on it….had refinanced but technically its mine :D oh and it’s a wonder what  a new pair of wiper blades make!

WoW: I have moved my mage to another realm so that I can raid with an Australian guild. They raid at 9:30 pm which I am waiting to see if it's too late for me to continue raiding with them. Though saying that they are a great bunch and that in itself could make up for the late nites.

On the PVP side of WoW I think I may have burnt myself out. I have been doing nothing but pvp in the order to get the gear. Our 5v5 team is now rated (last time I checked) at 500. It is our goal to help get this team in the top 50 and I think this is achievable has we have dropped down from rank 1700 two weeks ago. The team is made up of quality players who work well together. Do I dare dream that our team can make the top ten and win a trip to the world championship? As a player outside of the states I believe I will not get invited but the rest of our team will. I don’t mind not been able to attend as I will know I was part of the team that got them there.

EvE (yet another online game) is now Mac compactable. Not sure if this is a good thing or not considering the time I spend playing WoW….EvE did win the title "graphic games" for 2007. Its pretty but does it have I want in the game…and what is that I hear you ask? Tis pew pew of course :D.

Work: fuck it, I work, they pay me….not enough to deal with Tel$tra…but it pays the important bills…..figures….beer…..:D

09:11 am: Ahhhh choooo

Heading of to spring war this weekend. Looking forward to it as me and Mal are going to get a game in. I think also the fact of been able to lounge around in the sun and enjoy the company of people we have not seen in a long time.

We have had a new fellow start in our section. Over the last two day we have all been subjected to his personal life. He has not been off the phone for the last two days sorting our family matters. Now don’t get me wrong I make personal calls etc from work but I try to keep my voice down and not give out to many details. But this guy volume control is stuck on "annoy the crap of your fellow workers level".

Anyways…..

Not much else is happing. Can really feel spring in the air as well as in my nose!

12:49 pm: Only a gameing geek would get this
found this on a forum, the topic was about friendly elephants and what happens when their riders (mahouts) died.

I was tempted to suggest some sort of hatred but that wouldn't be on the battlefield. Elephants have long memories...

I can just see a buch of Cretan archers merrily drinking at a tavern when there's a knock at the door. Once opened, they see a huge grey creature with a note around it's huge neck:

"My name is Jumbo the elephant, you killed my Mahout, prepare to die!'

Cue tavern being trashed and archers being squashed.

well i found it funny!
